CUSCO - HUAYOCCARI - YANACOCHA - SAN JUAN - YUCAY
Early in the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco (4:00 am). Then we head in our private transportation to the sacred valley of the Incas, we will make a brief stop at the Taray viewpoint to contemplate the sunrise, after 1 hour we will arrive at the town of Huayoccari, where we will have a typical Cusco breakfast. Once our energies have been recharged, we begin our walk towards the Andean forests of Wawayoqrumi. This climb is very demanding, so we will make several stops to learn about the history and data of the flora and fauna of each place.
Around 11 am we will arrive at the Yanacocha lagoon, where our porter will be waiting for us with lunch. After a rest, we will make a short ascent to the Quellococha hills, where only small bushes grow and the views are unique in the entire Urubamba Valley. Later we descend to the town of San Juan, this section crosses the farmers’ crops of potatoes and other tubers, they are very friendly. Finally we finished our day in the Inca agricultural terraces of Yucay, which was a very favorite place of the Incas for its climate. From that point our transportation will pick us up that will bring us back to Cusco.
Best season to travel
The best time to visit Peru is during the dry season, between May and November, when the weather is dry and bright, with more frequent rainfall occurring between November and April.
